The original surf culture was as nasty and territorial as that of outlaw biker gangs, and surfers were, if not Goths, certainly Visigoths or Vandals or some other conquering barbarian tribe. As seas rise and empires decline (Track 6, Sad Thoughts Are Cool), there is no more authentic soundtrack to our turbulent times, therefore, than GOTB's original, exquisite, and parodic blend of surf-goth sadness.
